hiatus.

hey dears,

no pictures today, i'm afraid. in fact, a bit of bad news: i'm going to have to put this blog on hiatus. for how long, i'm not sure. no one warned me senior year was going to be so insanely hectic, but i've got so much on my plate i know i can't give this place the attention i gave it last year. i've got music department auditions + preparations for freshman year to get underway, as well as finishing up high school senior year, and a lot of other things i just need to work through.

i thank every single person who commented, read, or even gave a passing glance at a tragic utopia. i love each and every one of you, and perhaps i'll see you sooner than i think.

bare legs in winter. how i love thee.

hello, dears!

how has 2011 treated you so far? mine has been pretty swell... sleeping until noon, watching movies & glee, and being quite the internet fiend. today is also pretty grand because it is my last day of being 17! the family took me out for pre-birthday dinner tonight, and i am so full of mexican food it is unreal. but i turn 18 tomorrow! it feels surreal. i'm really that old?

but enough rambling. here's an outfit from my time in valdosta last week. can you believe it got warm enough to wear a skirt without stockings? me either.

shirtdress -- target (the converse brand... i seriously cannot remember the name!), flats -- avon, ring -- mark, rose studs -- charlotte russe, bow earrings -- betsey johnson.



also, a bit of shameless plugging... i've just started doing covers on youtube. i usually sing classical, but over winter break i decided, "ah, what the hell?" and i've done two florence + the machine songs.

it's a new year~

hey dears!

happy new years! i hope 2011 treats you kindly. i'm quite excited for the new year, for so much will be occurring! graduation from high school, my graduation trip to italy & greece (ahh!), starting college... its going to be madness! but i suppose i'm getting a bit ahead of myself, huh? january's barely begun!

i just got back from valdosta; visiting the grandparents was lovely. it was incredibly cold the first few days though, so i ended up dressing quite low key. i bought a surprisingly flattering shirt, though, and i wanted to share.


shirt -- mudd, jeans -- delias, flats -- avon, stud earrings -- charlotte russe?, dangling earrings -- gift, necklace-turned-bracelet -- vintage (from my grandmother).

this outfit is one of those "jeans and a semi-nice top" ensembles... which i happen to wear pretty frequently when its cold/particularly stressful-or-sleepless. it happened to be a pretty functional shopping outfit, too.


also, with a new year comes resolutions... mine this year are:

• eat more veggies/fruits/natural foods.
  
• exercise!
• i have to be honest... i'd like to tone up before going overseas. ^^"
  
• sing lots and lots and lots.
• write more.
• love more and share it!
• believe in myself.

an explanation (+ a tunic.)

hey lovelies!

i am so sorry for my absence for the past, erm, five months. senior year just got incredibly hectic & before i knew it, i was scrambling to get schoolwork, band, choir, voice lessons, and whatnot in sync. but now it is winter break, and i'm back to my wonderful blog -- i plan on keeping up with it, too!

onto the outfit, though~

tunic & jean leggings (i refuse to say their counterpart name) -- mark. boots -- bare traps? belt -- ae.

the funny thing about this outfit is the first outfit i ever posted on here was of me wearing a flannel plaid shirt & jeans & knee high boots. but the outfits are somewhat different, even with these similarities.

the bag is my early christmas present -- it's this delicious vintagte purse i've been eying at our local consignment shop for months! i dunno how mom kept it from selling, but i squealed when i received it. it's fantastic!

black & gold earrings -- chic frills (local consignment shop). rose studs -- charlotte russe. owl ring -- christmas present from my friend anna. :)

i also have semi-bad news: i'll be in georgia from december 26 - 30. maybe i can squeeze in another post tomorrow, but if not, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

the beginning of the end.

hi loves!

so, thursday was my first day of senior year. it hasn't hit me yet; i keep saying to myself, "woah, i'm a senior! i'm almost out of here!" pretty exciting stuff. :D

this is the outfit i wore:

blazer -- jcpenney's, tank & skirt -- delias, heels -- target, belt -- ae, ring -- simply vera (kohl's), earrings -- gift (avon), mini-messenger bag -- kohl's.

i think i either A) intimidated or B) weirded out the incoming freshmen with my outfit. their eyes gravitated to me a bit too much -- it was kinda creepy. xD




oh! also, i got my hair dyed. its a bit more purple than i usually have done, but i think it's going to be a wonderful color for fall & winter. :)

hey, short-stuff!

hello there!

so, perhaps you noticed something? i got a new hair cut! in the jcpenney salon, of all places! the guy who cut my hair was super nice & incredibly knowledgeable when it came to thin hair; i think i found my new hairstylist! i'm going to him tomorrow to get it colored, which is the only other thing he needs to prove himself at. xD (i got my hair cut last friday, btw.)

onto the outfit-of-the-day:

shirt is dkny, shorts are charlotte russe, gladiators are from rack room shoes. earrings are from a consignment/boutique. super comfy school shopping attire, here.

wooden bangle was a gift, skinny bangles are lucky brand or from kohls, beaded bracelets are mark, leather cuff is delia's.

i'm really pleased with it. my hair feels thick for the first time in a very long time. it does make me look younger, but that's alright i suppose. it curls rather nicely too. :D

this is what i wore for my college counseling appointment. good god, i have so much STUFF to do! common app to fill out, auburn's & UGA's apps to fill, essays to write, 20-something schools to research. not to mention, school starts next thursday. :/ i'm going to be one busy girl!

also, got my school schedule. precal, physics, wind ensemble, choir, AP gov/econ, AP english lit/comp. i'm so excited for those AP classes!

ALSO ALSO, band camp week is over! i made first chair overall -- i couldn't be happier! i'm also "over" the flutes & clarinets as far as marching goes, which intimidates & excites me. i'm not exactly a leader, but i suppose i'll learn to be. i hope.

since it's been SO LONG since i've blogged (bad blogger, i know!), i'm going straight to the outfit:


shirt -- forever 21, skirt -- target, heels -- rack room shoes, belt -- kohls (simply vera, i believe), necklace -- alloy, earrings -- charlotte russe, garnet bracelet -- gift.

i feel very conservative in this outfit; my grandmother absolutely loved it when i went to church this morning. xD but it's cute, i suppose.

i love these earrings! they're so delicate; i'm going to wear them in my second piercing, when i can switch out earrings... on thursday! :D i'm so excited!

what i've been doing as of late: so, i went on vacation last week. it was a blast! i went to valdosta first, then the grandparents, stepmom, & myself went to jacksonville beach. we picked up my dad who flew into the jacksonville airport, & he spent the weekend with us. i LOVE jacksonville. the vibes are so chill; skateboarders & surfers & bike-riders permeate the beach community. there are lots of dive-places to eat, which i love just for the atmosphere; it's a little hard to find vegetarian food besides french fries & salad, but that's okay. there were TONS of frozen yogurt places, too, which is my obsession. i love it. then we went back to valdosta for a few days.

i've been working a lot on college stuff too. the common app was made available to fill out today & i was supposed to work on it... uhm, oops. i've got an appointment with my college counselor tuesday, & i'm not exactly sure what i need to have done by then. i've been lazy this month. ^^" but i HAVE narrowed down my list of colleges that she sent me! they are lehigh, southwestern, & vanderbilt. i still like auburn & UGA, though. & of course, yale, my dream school. it just depends on what happens tuesday!

also, band camp starts tomorrow. woo hoo nerds! ;D

navy houndstooth & floppy hats.

i've been such a bad blogger lately -- & i'm about to be an even worse one! i've got another trip lined up for valdosta to visit the grandparents; we're heading out tuesday. but i'll try to get another post (at least) up by then. we're also going to the beach, so maybe i'll stop looking so pasty! haha.

outfit time~

dress -- thrifted ($2!). hat -- macy's, maybe? heels -- rack room shoes. i think. xD

this dress is a lot more body-conscious than what i usually wear. but i really like the tennis-dress cut & the intriguing pattern, so meh. xD


earrings & pearl bracelet -- gift. cream bangle -- charming charlie's.

i tried the nude-lip thing, even though bright/dark lips are supposed to be on trend now. oh well, i'm in rural alabama; the majority of people don't know a thing about trends anyway! :P

also, i'm in need of some hair-advice. i need a new cut. it's been about this length & bang-style for a year & a half, & i feel a little stale! i want something shorter, & perhaps something that will accent my jawline? (i know, my face is square-ish, why would i want to accentuate my jawline? xD) if you had any thoughts, i'd be SO thankful! :)
